Meet Our Board of Trustees
The WCS Board of Trustees works behind the scenes, providing guidance and support to maintain the School’s Mission and Vision, its Statement of Faith, its academic quality and student life, business operations, advancement and long range planning; the Board works closely with the school’s Administration to establish appropriate resources and facilities to carry out these goals; and it supports, oversees and evaluates the work of the Headmaster.
The Board works through various committees with responsibility for all areas of the school’s operation, including: Executive; Finance/Audit; Nomination; Advancement; and Facilities. The Board meets monthly but there are regular ongoing project groups and committee meetings going on at various times each month.
What’s the process to join the Board?
Board members join for a three-year term. Interested current parents, parents of graduates or other friends of the School are always welcome to inquire about committee or Board membership. This yearly process starts in late Fall with an informal interview, completion of a comprehensive questionnaire, and potentially a formal interview with the Nominating Committee who will pass along their recommendations to the full Board. If a candidate’s nomination is approved by the Board, it is submitted on an electronic ballot to all families for a vote of affirmation, typically in May.
The Board is seeking candidates who bring a wide range of talents and skills; who are willing and able to devote their time, and to support WCS financially as they are able; and who also agree with, and worship at a church whose teachings are similar to (and in no way contrary to) the WCS Statement of Faith. We welcome inquiries or recommendations for potential Board members.
