Middle School “Heads Up” 11/30/2009

Welcome back!  I trust that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and had the opportunity to spend some quality time with family and friends.  Don’t blink or you will miss the next 3 weeks and Christmas vacation will be here!  Second Chance Resale will be coming to school on Tuesday, December 1st, and Wednesday, December 2nd, from 2:00 – 5:00 PM.  Gently used school uniforms will be on sale in the Elementary School foyer during these times.  This is a great opportunity to purchase some clothing for the colder temperatures of winter.

Our next  math league meet will be Monday, December 7, 2009, at HB DuPont Middle School in Hockessin, DE.  If your student is participating in the meet, please make sure that you pick your child up at HB DuPont at 4:45 PM.  Go Math League!

DVDs of our Coffee House Talent Show are available for purchase.  The cost is $10 and checks should be made payable to Wilmington Christian School.  If you are interested in purchasing a DVD send your request and payment to the Middle School office.  All requests should be received by Friday, December 4, 2009.

Save the date!  On Saturday, December 5, 2009, our Middle School Student Senate will be hosting our Christmas Social.  A letter was given to your child on Friday.  Miss Kondracki is asking for volunteers to help with set-up and or clean- up.  She also needs white, silver, and black balloons and white branches for decorations.  Finger foods and beverages are also needed.  Please contact Miss Kondracki and let her know how you can help!!

During the week of December 7th, the middle school students will be participating in our annual Christmas Classic.  Our halls will be filled with the Christmas spirit!  Each day of the week, the students will participate in a “special” day.

Monday is Christmas Hat Day.

Tuesday is Christmas Sock Day.

Wednesday is Christmas Twin Day.

Thursday is Homeroom Door Decoration Judging.

Friday is Food Drive and Coin Collection Tally Day.

Our Middle School Christmas Concert will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 7:00 PM.  The students have worked extremely hard to prepare for this evening.  All parents (even those without students in band, chorus, or drama) are encouraged to come share the evening with us.  You will be truly blessed and encouraged!

Christmas vacation begins at the end of the day on Friday, December 18, 2009.  We will have an Upper School Chapel at 1:15 PM, followed by homeroom Christmas parties.  If you are willing to help out with a homeroom party, please contact the appropriate homeroom teacher.

If your student is going to be absent from school or leaving school early, there is a quick and easy way to notify the school.  Visit our school website www.wilmingtonchristian.org and click on “parent.” There are two submission forms that are very important to the middle school office.  The absentee notification and early dismissal forms are invaluable when keeping track of attendance.  Please fill the forms out and submit them when appropriate!

Our cafeteria provider Hepbron Food Services will no longer be serving breakfast in the cafeteria.
