Wilmington Christian School

Middle School “Heads Up” 3/1/2010

March 1, 2010

Although more snow has fallen over the last couple of days, we have finally entered March!  Spring is just weeks away!  The Lord has truly blessed us with some picturesque “crystal” scenes!

We have collected all of the applications for National Junior Honor Society.  The NJHS Teacher Council will now go through the applications, and Ms. Fowler will notify the students who have been accepted into the NJHS.  Thank you for helping your students compile and submit the paperwork!

Our headmaster Mr. Stevens spoke to our students in chapel on Friday!  This Friday during chapel, the cast of WCS’s High School Musical will perform for us prior to Opening Night!

We will begin tryouts for middle school baseball today.  We will hold regular PE classes for those students who are not participating in baseball.  As soon as the fields are “playable” we will begin spring sports for MS girls’ soccer, MS girls’ softball, V golf, and V lacrosse.

Just a reminder… We are still in the process of raising money for the lockers for the upstairs middle school hallway.  We need $8,600!! We are so close.  Please prayerfully consider donating to the locker fund.

Congratulations to our 8th grade students for the successful completion of History Day.  Due to the inclement weather last week, the judging was postponed until Tuesday, March 2nd.  We will announce the winners on Wednesday.

March is a very busy month for field trips!  Our sixth grade students will be going to the UPenn Egypt Exhibit on March 16th as part of their Egyptian study.  Our seventh graders will visit the Art Museum on March 9th and the Medieval Times on March 25th.

On March 26th, we will be hosting the second annual Wilmington Christian School/Pike Creek Christian School Combined Fine Arts Festival.  PCCS chorus and band will spend the day with our WCS students practicing together before a combined performance that evening at 7:00 PM.  Everyone is invited to attend the performance!  It is an amazing evening!!

If your student is going to be absent from school or leaving school early, there is a quick and easy way to notify the school.  Visit our school website www.wilmingtonchristian.org and click on “parent.” There are two submission forms that are very important to the middle school office.  The absentee notification and early dismissal forms are invaluable when keeping track of attendance.  Please fill the forms out and submit them when appropriate!

Praying for the Lord’s Blessing on the Week!
