Middle School “Heads Up” – 3/29/2010

Easter Break begins at the end of this week.  The highlight of this week is always our Grandparents’/VIPs’ Day.  Our special guests should plan to arrive before 9:00 AM.  Light refreshments will be provided, beginning at 8:30 AM.  Our middle school students are invited to join their guests at 8:30 AM and may sit with them during chapel.  Chapel begins at 9:00 AM.  After chapel our guests are invited to tour our buildings or even sit in on a class.  If your child is leaving early with their guest, he/she must be signed out in the middle school office.

We have finally been able to hold practices outside for all of our spring sports.  Check out the sports schedules and come out and support our teams.  This is always a great opportunity to meet other parents and encourage our students!

A letter was sent home last week informing you of an exciting joint venture with Pike Creek Counseling Center.  If you did not receive this letter, please contact the middle school office for details.  PCCC will be providing therapists at WCS to work with middle school students if parents or students enlist their services through contacting PCCC directly.

Last Friday, March 26th, we hosted the second annual Wilmington Christian School/Pike Creek Christian School Combined Music Festival.  Congratulations to Mrs. Weber and Ms. Schiller for this wonderful evening of music.  We also wish to thank Mrs. Aull and Mrs. Stinson for helping out with our luncheon.  All of the food was provided by Haldas’ Meat Market, thanks to the Eleutherious!

When we return from vacation please look for information regarding our first Middle School Service Day.  Faculty and Staff are hard at work arranging service projects for Friday, April 30th.  We will be looking for parent volunteers for both transportation and chaperoning.  This promises to be a very rewarding day.

If your student is going to be absent from school or leaving school early, there is a quick and easy way to notify the school.  Visit our school website www.wilmingtonchristian.org and click on “parent.” There are two submission forms that are very important to the middle school office.  The absentee notification and early dismissal forms are invaluable when keeping track of attendance.  Please fill the forms out and submit them when appropriate!
